“Spoonful of Sugar” (Measures 1- 63)
What we are looking for: POSTURE, character, who is your Mary?

Bert
Make sure “Jolly Holiday” and “Fly a Kite” are good.
“All Me Own Work” Measures 9-28
“Chim Chim Cher-ee” Measures 9-19
Count yourself in on the stage tracks
What we are looking for: Cockney Accent, a juxtaposition to Mary in speaking and posture.

Jane Michael Banks
“Jolly Holiday” Sing both parts.
Measure 32- 52
Starts around 1:05 in the stage tracks
What we are looking for: They are kids! Have fun and look like kids!

George Banks
Cherry Tree Lane Part 1
Starts around 3:57 in stage tracks
Measures 42- 61
Please include all dialogue.
What are we looking for: Someone who can be believable in a more mature role. Think about your posture and the tone of your voice. Think about how you would speak to the children (especially in the beginning) and research the characters arc.

Mrs. Banks Call Back Assignments

Please sign the same at round 1 (measure 46-83) of “Being Mrs. Banks”
What we are looking for: Once again, more believable in a mature role. Think about posture. Think about what it means to be Mrs. Banks. Chemistry in reads with Mr. Banks will be important. Think about her failed acting career and what it means to a woman for a title to be “wife” (when she clearly wants more than that).

Miss Andrews Call Back Assignments

Same as round 1. Brimstone and Treacle Part 1 (measures 43-73)
Bird Lady
Same as round 1. Feed the Birds (measures 36-63)

All other Ensemble Parts: Need to be able to sing the ensemble audition part. You will do some readings of the many characters throughout the show. We may not read or sing for all.

Audition Requirements

Please plan on singing one song only (unless auditioning for Bert or Mary). If you are interested in auditioning for a second part please indicate that at the top of your audition. The panel may ask to hear more, they may not. We will make decisions based on time. It is always best to over prepare.

You MUST sing with the backing tracks provided. Acapella auditions will not be permitted.

You MUST sign up for an audition slot on sign up genius and fill out the google form to be considered for a part.

For all parts you should sing in the appropriate British accent for the character. It is your responsibility to do your research and prepare yourself for the accent.

Mary Poppins: For this part you are required to be a strong singer and a strong dancer. In addition, you will be flying. You cannot have any fear of heights. You will need to have good core strength and control of your body. This actress is most likely seasoned (probably not your stage debut).

There are two songs for potential Marys. Please sing “Practically Perfect” (measures 6-44) first. We may also ask to hear (measures 93-124) “Playing the Game”. Do not read too much into whether or not we ask you to sing the second song.

Bert: Bert MAY fly. Needs to have good control of body and core strength. Bert needs to be a strong dancer.  This actor is most likely seasoned (probably not your stage debut).

There are two songs to prepare for Bert. You will sing “Jolly Holiday” measures 1-30 first. You need to have a ton of character. The correct accent. Vocals are also critical. “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” measure 30-54.

Jane Banks: Your physical appearance will matter when auditioning for this part (in terms of looking young or old).  Please sing “The Perfect Nanny” measures 1-42. Please sing both parts. Be sure that you are also acting like a child, characterization is important here.

Michael Banks: Your physical appearance will matter when auditioning for this part (in terms of looking young or old).  Please sing “The Perfect Nanny” measures 1-42. Please sing both parts. Be sure that you are also acting like a child, characterization is important here.

Winifred Banks: Must appear older/taller than the children. “Being Mrs. Banks” (Measures 42-83)

George Banks: Must appear older/taller than the children. “A Man has Dreams” (measures 47-62)

“Feed the Birds” Solo:  “Feed the Birds” (measures 36-63)

Miss Andrews: Mary Poppins’ foil. “Brimstone and Treacle” (Measure 43-73). Please be prepared to do the belty stuff if ask or in call backs.

Minor Characters/Ensemble: “Anything Can Happen Part 2” (measures 56-72). Sing the vocal part that best fits your voice.
